Canadian entrepreneur Frank Heaps, who founded the Upper Canada Brewing Company, is involved in a real estate project in the Caribbean that is attracting a number of Canadian buyers.
The Landings in St. Lucia recently launched new beachfront apartments that will be the last-ever opportunity to buy freehold property directly on the beach in St. Lucia, the developer says. The Queens Chain regulation that states all land within 20 m on the shoreline is owned by the government and can only be leased, but since The Landings is built on reclaimed land the rule does not apply.
The new apartments will be built as part of a final phase of construction in a traditional Caribbean style, with oversized terraces to appreciate the view. The properties will be part of a fully functional five-star resort in Rodney Bay, on the island’s best beach and around the Landings private yacht harbour, say the developers.
“We are in a unique situation since we have built on reclaimed land and I expect there will be interest from Canadians who will see this as an opportunity to invest in a very special property,” says Oliver Gobat, sales director at The Landings. “The Landings beachfront apartments are perfect for those Canadians who want to escape the cold winters and enjoy paradise.”
The new beachfront building includes:
· Two bedroom (1,850 sq. ft), three bedroom (2,638 sq. ft), three bedroom grand residences (3,390 sq. ft.) and four bedroom duplexes (3,700 sq ft.) with private pool.
· Fully equipped high-end kitchen with premium-brand appliances.
· Spacious living room, dining room, cloak room and bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, all fully air-conditioned.
· Two balconies or a landscaped terrace.
· All ground-floor and top-floor apartments have outdoor heated, jetted plunge pools.
· Housekeeping and room service.
On-site amenities include an 800 ft. white sand beach; a harbour with 50 yacht and motor boat moorings; a beachfront club lounge and restaurant plus fine dining restaurant overlooking the marina; pools and tennis courts; concierge services and shops; a full service hair salon; a state of the art fitness club and spa; and water sports facilities including sail boats, wind surfers, kayaks and snorkeling equipment. Owners at The Landings are also provided with a membership at the St. Lucia Golf and Country Club.
The new beachfront apartments are now on sale and range from $1.8 million to $3.5 million. Marina apartments are also available from $550,000 US. Construction of the apartments will commence in August 2010 and will be completed by the end of 2011.
